Daemon Watchdog is designed with privacy as a core principle. The app operates entirely on your Mac without requiring an internet connection, user accounts, or cloud services.
Data Collection
We do not collect any data.
Daemon Watchdog does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on external servers. Specifically:
No personal information is collected
No usage analytics or tracking
No advertising identifiers
No third-party analytics services
No cloud storage or synchronization
No telemetry of any kind
Data Storage
Daemon Watchdog stores the following data locally on your Mac:
Settings: Your preferences (polling interval, enabled daemons, custom memory thresholds, notification toggles) are stored in UserDefaults.
Health history: Daemon memory snapshots and restart events are stored in memory during the app session. Diagnostic exports are saved only when you explicitly request them.
License key: Stored securely in the macOS Keychain.
This data never leaves your Mac unless you explicitly export a diagnostic report.
Privileged Helper
Daemon Watchdog installs a privileged helper tool to restart system daemons via launchctl. This helper runs with elevated privileges and communicates with the main app over XPC. The helper performs only daemon restart operations and does not access, collect, or transmit any personal data.
Network Access
Daemon Watchdog makes two types of network requests:
License validation: When you activate a license key, Daemon Watchdog contacts the LemonSqueezy API to validate it. Only the license key is sent — no other data.
Update checks: Daemon Watchdog periodically checks for updates via Sparkle by downloading a small XML file from apps.fallingdata.zone. No personal data is sent.
Children's Privacy
Daemon Watchdog does not collect data from anyone, including children under 13.
